How to make the most of your Christmas Kits

If you're in the mood for some festive decorating inspiration, don't go anywhere! Whether you're in the mood for a fancy affair, or a more classic party, we thought it best we walk you through how to make the most of your Christmas Party and Decorator Kits.

For a Classic Christmas:
Included in the Classic Christmas Party Kit are all of your party supply essentials, plus a couple of bonus items such as favour bags and twist ties. The coordinating Decorator Kit has some fun extras, to get that Christmas feeling happening around your house or workplace.

The Table:
Pop those Santa chair covers on the end of each table and get that tablecloth on the table. No one says the tablecloth has to be used as expected - unfold it half way and use it as a table runner (like the pic below). Next, lay out all of your tableware. Tip: want to get the 'magazine worthy look'? Make sure everything's neatly laid out and in the same position for every person!

If you've got place cards, try to think creatively - use the felt Christmas ornaments, or gift tags, and maybe even wrap your napkin with a bow for an extra festive look! Crappy handwriting (like Khai)? Outsource the place card writing to a family member, or even get the kiddies involved.

The Decorations:
Just because someone says an item has to be used a certain way, doesn't mean you have to use it that way... Christmas ornaments, streamers and hanging garlands have a multitude of uses. Hang the ornaments off lolly jars or wine bottles, use streamers as napkin rings, or decorate your gifts with garlands. Have fun with what you've got - and if something doesn't look right, just change it back (no one will know)!

Don't forget:
The gifts! Beautifully wrapped gifts are decorations in themselves. Don't just limit them to under the tree - pop clusters around the house for an extra dose of 'jolly', even if they are just dummy wrapped cardboard boxes!

Also, don't forget the decorative power of FOOD. A pile of handmade gingerbread, some festive coloured punch or even a tray of plain old cheese and jatz can look all the more appetising if you spend a little extra time laying things out neatly. The power is in the presentation, people!

For a Fancy Christmas:
Again, your Fancy Party Kit has all of your party necessities, but this time the added extras include some beautiful serving platters. The matching Decorator Kit has a stylish selection of items, ensuring an elegantly festive affair.

The Table:
This time, why not try using the tablecloth for a Christmas buffet, or dessert table? I'd suggest cutting the fringe garlands in half and lay them down the centre of your table for a super classy, textured look. Next, lay out all of your tableware, again, paying attention to alignment. The plates nestle perfectly in one another, so by layering these items with your cutlery and napkins, you'll be sure the theme is beautiful and consistent.

The Decorations:
Pop your honeycomb trees on the table for a super quick centrepiece. Then, the possibilities are endless with the other half of your fringe garlands! Cut them in pieces and hang them from doorways, lay them over the Christmas tree, wrap around gifts, vases or candle holders (making sure the paper can't catch alight!). Those paper fans? They can be half opened and stuck to the table, attached to gifts, or cleverly carved up to look like snowflakes. Use the stickers to wrap gifts and the cupcake wrappers, to, well, wrap cupcakes! Voila! A not-so-traditional Christmas dinner is sorted.

Don't forget:
As the saying goes, "waste not, want not". Now, this doesn't just apply to using leftovers creatively (though I did see an awesome looking leftover Boxing Day Pie recipe from that dude from Great British Bake Off the other day)... this means your tableware and decorations, too. Use any leftover ribbon, stickers or gift tags for future birthday presents or craft projects. We hate to see things going to waste, so when we curated these Kits, we wanted to make sure everything had multiple uses!

If you're crazy about entertaining or decorating like me, I'd LOVE to hear your ideas and alternative uses for spare tableware or decorations!
